San Diego Hydrogeology

About Us

We are a dedicated group of scientists who take pride in deciphering the largely unresearched geology and hydrology of the San Diego–Tijuana area of southern California, USA, and Northern Baja, Mexico. We collect and interpret high quality data, test our ideas with a variety of numerical models, and work closely with local water agencies. We are providing the necessary understanding to develop additional water resources, in particular groundwater from the San Diego Formation and related alluvial deposits.

The USGS, and the San Diego Hydrogeology project in particular, occasionally have openings for volunteers, interns, post-docs, seasonal hires, and permanent employees.

If you are interested in volunteering or becoming employed by the USGS San Diego Hydrogeology project, please submit the following 3 items via email to wdanskin@usgs.gov:

  1. Letter of interest -- we want to know why you want to volunteer or work for the USGS, and the San Diego Hydrogeology project in particular;
  2. Unofficial college or high school transcripts -- we are interested in your complete academic record; and
  3. Resume -- we are interested in learning about you professionally, academically, and personally.
