Water-Level Studies in the Antelope Valley and Fremont Valley Groundwater Basins

Monitoring groundwater levels aids water managers in understanding the effects of urbanization and suburbanization on water resources, the effects of land use and population increases on water resources, and water system management. Since 1965, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Antelope Valley – East Kern Water Agency and the Antelope Valley State Water Contractors Association (AVSWCA), has measured water levels in more than 200 wells in a continuing effort to monitor groundwater conditions in the Antelope Valley and Fremont Valley groundwater basins.
