ANALYTICAL METHODS: Pesticides - Water

A Multi-residue Method for the Analysis of Pesticides and Pesticide Degradates in Water Using HLB Solid-phase Extraction and Gas Chromatography–Ion Trap Mass Spectrometry

Hladik, M.L., Smalling, K.L., and Kuivila, K.M., 2008, Bull. Environ. Contam. Toxicol., v. 80, pp. 139–144.

A method was developed for the analysis of over 60 pesticides and degradates in one-liter water samples by HLB solid-phase extraction and gas-chromatography/mass spectrometry. Method recoveries (80%– 108%) and detection limits (1–15 ng/ L) were determined by spiking seven replicates at 20-50 ng/L. Surface water samples from four sites were analyzed and 14 pesticides were detected with concentrations ranging from 4 to 1,200 ng/L.
