The fish data files are in a tab-delimited format. The files have the following row and column definitions. Row Number Column Name Description 1 UDATE Date file was last updated. See USRCE for the update source. 2 SNAME Study Unit Name (4-letter abbreviation) 3 SNAME Site Name 4 STAID Station ID number 5 DATE Colection date as mm/dd/yy 6 CTYPE Sample type ("FSH" for fish) 7 REACHNO Reach identifier ("A", "B", "C") 8 SMCOD Sample identification code (SUNIT + Month & Year of DATE + CTYPE + accession number) Rows 9 to end are defined as such. Column Number Column Name Description 1 TAXID Taxonomic identification code 2 USGSFG Flag to indicate that this taxon has been assigned a temporary TAXID 3 PARENT TAXID of the next highest ('parent') taxonomic level 4 SCINM Scientific name 5 AUTH Taxonomic authority name and date 6 TAXON NODC code 7 SRTCD Sort code generated by taxonomic database and used for taxonomic sorting 8 RNKCD Code for the taxonomic rank(p=Phylum, C=Class, etc.) 9 FISHNO Sequential fish number for a station/reach/date/ species 10 METHID Collection method 11 FISHNAME Name of fish, common or scientific 12 NTYPE Name type ("SCINM" = scientific name or "C" for common name) 13 FSHTIME Sampling time (seconds) or number of seine hauls 14 LABFG Code that indicates if the fish were identified in the field ("F") or laboratory ("L") 15 VOUCHER Abbreviation of the facility where voucher specimen(s) is(are) deposited 16 BATFG Code indicating whether the weight and/or anomalies were determined from a batch of fish ("Y") or from a single fish ("N") 17 TLNGTH Total length of an individual fish (mm) 18 SLNGTH Standard length of an individual fish (mm) 19 FSHWGT Weight (grams) of an individual fish or a batch (group) of fish. If data are from a batch, then the BATFG flag should be 'Y' 20 ABUND Number of fish that represent the weight and/or anomalies data for that line. This value is '1' if BATFG in 'N', indicating that the data are for an individual fish. 21 SDATE Date (mm/dd/yy) that the data were entered into the file by the study unit. 22 SSRCE Data source.
