New USGS webcam alerts residents of flood hazard
Provides live views of San Diego County, Calif., stream and road at high risk for floods A new U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) real-time webcam is providing live panoramic views of the Santa Margarita River in Fallbrook, in northern San Diego County. After last week’s heavy rains, the camera provided graphic images of high water in the Santa Margarita River at Sandia Creek Road. The webcam can be accessed at http://ca.water.usgs.gov/webcams/. The webcam page also includes real-time graphs with river data from a USGS streamgage. The Santa Margarita River webcam is the third installed by the USGS in California, the second in Southern California. The USGS plans to install additional webcams at other high-risk sites in California. USGS provides science for a changing world. For more information, visit www.usgs.gov. |
