Graphic video of the Christmas 2003 debris flow in Devore, CA

During a 24-hour period from December 24 to December 25, 2003, more than four inches of rain fell on the small town Devore, CA, and the surrounding mountains. Devore is at the foot of Cajon Pass near San Bernardino, below areas that burned in 2003, leaving hillsides bare of vegetation. Resident Howard Davis shot this video on Christmas Day 2003 as mud and boulders flowed down Greenwood Avenue in front of his house. This video is posted courtesy of Mr. Davis.

Debris flow hazard maps for Southern California released.
