Ground Water Atlas of the United States -
Segment 1 California Nevada
Ground-Water Quality
Ground-water quality is not a serious concern in the Santa Clara Valley, except
near San Francisco Bay, where seawater has intruded locally as a result of large
ground-water withdrawals. The encroachment has been arrested, for the most part,
by a decrease in withdrawals and an increase in recharge from surface-water
sources.
